Some notes on the use of the
Icom IC-R7000 memory backup and restore utility
--------------------------------------------------
* Right now it does nothing real fancy - just backs up and restores
the radio's memory.
* Frequencies are stored in text files, suitable for editing with
your favorite editor or spreadsheet. The format of each line in
the .FRQ files is:
<Frequency><spaces or tab><mode><spaces or tab><notes or comments>
where <mode> is AM, FM, FMN, or SSB
It's not necessary to use 99 lines in each file to correspond to all
memory locations. In fact, lines past 99 are ignored.
Some frequency files are included to get you started. If you have
memories in your R7000 that you do not wish to lose, I suggest that
you retrieve them with this program and save them as a .FRQ file.
* Entering Frequency data idea:
You can now directly (well, almost) import all those freqs that you
get in CIS email, BBS files, etc. right into these .FRQ files. Just
put each freq on a line by itself followed by the number that matches
it's mode. (If no mode is entered, FMN is assumed.)
* Scanning idea:
Use the scan-and-store feature of the R7000, making several scans
of a given frequency range, each time saving the found freqs in files.
Combine the files together, sorting and eliminating duplicates. Try
this during rush hour, scanning cellular base out freqs and you'll
snag a good bunch of them.
* NOTE: Attempts to access the radio via an different baud rate than
it is jumpered for will lock up the PC and force you to reboot.
* Bug reports and feature suggestions are welcome. Send to:

Enjoy!
